If you have been thinking about flying your drone to make money, you have probably come across the FAA Part 107 Certification. In the United States, drone pilots who are flying for non-recreational purposes (for money) must hold the FAA Part 107 Certification.
The process for getting your Part 107 is relatively simple:
- Prepare for the exam by using a free Part 107 Study Guide or sign up for an online course where you can study and take a Part 107 practice test. (We highly recommend Drone Launch Academy).
- Once you feel that you’re ready, it’s time to register with the Federal Aviation Administration.
- After you have registered, locate an FAA-approved testing center and sign up to take the exam.
- Once you pass the exam, complete your application with the FAA, and receive a temp certificate while waiting for the card to arrive.
Getting your Part 107 exciting, and leaves many pilots in the next phase of wondering, “how do I get paying clients?”
